Artist Profile
Murni Mo Selle is a Singapore-based multi-disciplinary visual artist and marketing and communications consultant. As a creative, she is recognized for her work as a VJ at the superclub Ministry of Sound from 2006 to 2008, her contributions to television productions between 2008 and 2012, and her role in creating award-winning campaigns in advertising agencies.
Murni's deep connection to the arts remains a core part of her identity, making her decision to return to creating essential for preserving her sense of self and purpose. As a social activist, her artistic practice spans multiple media, including film, sound, photography, and digital platforms. Her current works address pressing social issues such as the social divide, identity, gender, eco-consciousness, and the protection of indigenous tribes.
Her work has been showcased both locally and internationally. Notable group exhibitions include Pushing Paper: Contemporary Drawing from 1970 to Now (2020) at the Oriental Museum, Durham University, UK; Z-Axis - PAVED Arts (2009) in Saskatoon, Canada; Poetics of Space (2008) at Rectangular Dreams, Theaterworks Installation in Moscow; CellsButton Media Exhibition (2007) in Jogjakarta, Indonesia; Via Via Café (2008) in Jogjakarta, Indonesia; Video Art Showcase (2009) at Artoholic Gallery, Singapore; and Visuals for Theater Performance, SUVADUGAL (2006), Singapore. She also collaborated with VJ Andrews for DJ Tiesto's tour After the Sunset (2007), Singapore.
Her short films have been featured at the Melbourne Queer Festival (2008) and the Singapore International Film Festival (2007).
Murni holds a Diploma in Multimedia Production from SAE Institute of Technology (2003) and a BA (Hons) in Mass Communication with Business from Northumbria University (2019). She has also studied Digital Filmmaking at LASALLE College of the Arts and Communications and Media Management at the University of South Australia.
